A windy Fall day in the Alpine

It's that glorious time of the year when the air is crisp and all the vegetation is turning yellow and red. Up on high there is a bumper crop of crowberries.  These are small black berries with a slightly astringent taste.  The dogs love them, and when they find a good patch they snuffle them up.  They even make snuffling noises as they hoover up the berries.  They like blueberries too, but seem to really like the crowberries.  This is funny because humans generally prefer the blueberries.  That said I tried some of the alpine low bush blueberries a couple of days ago and they had no flavor.  So maybe the dogs like crowberries because at least they have a flavor.
