Spring Corn

It's April and at our house the sun is now rising out of the sea, the crocuses are blooming, and there is sun-warmed corn snow every afternoon in the South Bowl on Pyramid. The snow pack is just about at its max for the year and the skiing is about as good as it gets. Every night it still freezes and if you go skiing too early the mountain is frozen solid.  So it is best to go in the late afternoon - perfect for an after work/school ski trip!

These photos are from the last 2 days, and we plan on going again this afternoon. It's time to harvest the corn on Kodiak!

At the bottom of the post there is a short video that shows the conditions yesterday.

Even in the afternoon it is still rock hard on the north side of the mountain

    1. I can't even check in to my own blog! What's up with that? Anyway - as of today (May 24th) I'm up to 192 days on snow so far this season - I hope to get in 200!
