Big Ice

 

Today it is supposed to get back into the 40s and stay that way - and tomorrow it is supposed to rain hard.  So it looks like our cold snap is over.  Hello rain and blah.  And just when the ice on the big lakes had started to get good.  On Wednesday we went skating on the big ice.

Kind of nice when skating to not have to go in circle - to explore around on a big sheet of ice.  To crank it up and really go fast in a straight line.  And it was black ice so could see the bottom and look for fish.  In the shallow areas the cow lily stalks are still bright green but in the deep places all you could see was abysmal black.

I'm hoping the ice is still good after work this afternoon.  Hoping for one more rip on the big ice.
