Hero Snow

These pictures from Pyramid are from a sunny warm day earlier in the week.  The mountain has been freezing solid at night and then on warm days thawing out during the day.  In the late afternoon this makes for some perfect ski conditions - what I call 'hero snow'.  The corn snow is so uniform and fast that it is super easy to ski well - or at least you think you are skiing well.  Hence the moniker 'hero snow'.  It makes you feel like a hero.

On this day Stuey declared that it was the 'best snow yet'.  And that's a good thing because while powder days may well be a thing of the past there will be a lot more days in the near future of sun warmed corn snow - hero snow.
