Lobster on the deck

Maine vacation continues.  We were supposed to continue on to Iceland before returning home to Alaska, but I tore my hamstring and am now couch bound and writing blog posts.  So our Maine vacation will be extra long!

Before I tore my hamstring (waterskiing for the first time in 40 years) the kids and I had a lobster picnic with Stewart and Sarah.  We had intended to travel to a remote beach and cook the lobsters in a fire pit covered with seaweed.  But it was too windy for beach fires and we decided to just cook the lobsters in the kitchen and eat them on the porch above the water.

It was pretty perfect.  As we ate the lobsters and threw the shells right back into the ocean.  A few gulls and even a large crab joined us and scavenged the shells on the beach.
