Afognak with Ray, Julie, and Lars

 

Stuey and I had a great time out on Afognak with Ray, Julie and Lars, and I think it has become a yearly tradition to go out there over Labor Day weekend.  At least for the next few years - until Lars and Stuey head off to college. .... GULP!

In the past we have brought inflatable kayaks, but this year we only brought stand up paddle boards.  I think it is a good change.  SUPs are just more fun for batting around and exploring the shoreline.  Whereas kayaks are better for getting from X to Z - for going places.  

I think my favorite Afognak moment is hot dogs on the beach over a beach fire.  We toasted our tortillas and added baby bell cheese to make cheese dogs.  One afternoon I just lay in the beach greens above the high tide line and read a book in the sun.  Total relaxation.
