Hiking back to camp one day Ray started to pick up and collect seemingly stuff - buoys, plastic baskets etc. He explained, 'I got an idea for some beach entertainment tonight'. He kept it a surprise, and I'll admit to curiosity when in the evening he gathered up the kids and lit a fire on the beach.
I learned it was the beach olympics. He divided up the kids into 2 teams, and it was the battle of the sexes - boys against girls. Julie got to play on the girls team.
It was an exciting match and was a very close competition until near the end when Lars did REALLY well at bowling and created some separation. But even at the very end Ilsa had a chance to tie or win on the last bowl of the games - but her net ball rolled wide of the pin buoys and the games went to the boys. Patrick
