Is it a dog walk when you go for a cross country ski and bring the dogs? Or is it a 'dog ski'? Thinking from the dogs' perspective I bet they view them as completely different enterprises. On a walk the human plods along at a slow pace and the dogs can do all the exploring they want. They know that when they return from their explorations that the human will have barely moved in the interim. Whereas on a ski the human flies along like a God and they have to run just to keep up.
Lately it has been cold and windy on Kodiak, and on high all the snow is drifted or blown away. The downhill skiing is not all that great (terrible actually). So we've been cross country skiing. Because of the high winds one of the best places has been in the cottonwood trees above Buskin Lake. Down in the valley and in the trees there is practically no wind and there is even powder to be found. The cross country skiing is excellent!
And all the running for the dogs has kept things quiet at home. No restless and bored dogs here!
