Night walk on Pillar Mountain

Last night the kids, doggies and I picked up cousin Leo and went for a night walk on Pillar Mountain.  No flashlights allowed.  Just for the heck of it I decided to bring along my camera and see what kind of pictures I could take at REALLY high ISO settings.  So I set the ISO to the highest it would go - 25,600! and away I went.

What's amazing is that the camera could even take pictures - it was a cloudy night and practically pitch dark up there.  But the lights from town reflecting off of the clouds seem to have provided just enough light to take pictures - and all hand held without a tripod too.  Admittedly they are super grainy!

The hardest part was that I could not see the knobs etc on the camera.  I sort of just turned knobs by memory and got it all to work.  I could see on the screen when the settings changed, but it was pretty much adjusting by 'braille'.

Anyway, I got some pretty cool pictures.  I'll have to try it again - maybe with a tripod.
