I got an air fryer for Christmas last year (thank you mom!) and at first we used it for nothing but making 'French fries'. The kids liked the roasted potato wedges from the air fryer way more than the ones from the normal oven. Then last summer and fall we started to experiment a bit more - chicken drumsticks and even whole breasts were a big hit.
I really wanted to roast a whole chicken but all the ones in the store were clearly too large for our air fryer. But then I saw this tiny, 'high end', free range chicken at Safeway and it looked small enough for the air fryer. So I bought it, and it did fit into the air fryer! Barely.
So I cleaned up the chicken, sprinkled it with salt and pepper, and let it sit while I preheated the air fryer for 10 minutes. Then I put it breast side down in the air fryer and cooked it for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Then flipped it and cooked another 12 minutes. After it binged I checked the internal temperature with a meat thermometer and it was still not done so I cooked it another 4 minutes. I think 12-14 minutes a side would have been perfect.
In any case, it came out GREAT - roasted chicken in under a half hour. I think I'll try this one again.
