Leaps

Well after surviving a 3 hour boarding delay in Anchorage we finally made it home, just now, to Kodiak!  Home at last!  For the last half hour I have been doing the 'put some things away and see how far I am behind on life' routine.  I looked at the pictures of Maine and decided to do a blogpost before bed.  And then tomorrow I start with the catching up on life.  I am super glad we came back on a Friday because I have 2 days to catch up.  I'll add that the best part about coming home is super happy doggies!

Anyway, one of the highlights of the trip to Maine was jumping off of high places into the water.  At the Lake in Camden we jumped off of a cliff while on North Haven it was mostly off of the deck of the house at high tide.  But we also jumped off of docks and really anything that was high and close to deep water.

The jump off of the top deck at my grandmother's old house - the house where we stayed on North haven - had the most terrifying leap.  A long fall into not so deep water.  You could only do the jump at high tide because by mid tide there is no water under the porch.  Nora got up the gumption and did it too.  It took her a while to do it and after many false starts she finally just 'leaped'.

It's that feeling of terror before you jump, but once in the air you know you'll be OK.  And then with the explosion into the water you feel the exhilaration of knowing you are OK and that you did it!
