Afognak Camp Life

 

We had such spectacular weather on Afognak that we practically did not need the teepee and woodstove.  But teepee time is always a good thing, and every morning and evening we gathered around the woodstove inside the teepee for meals.  

This year we intentionally brought some of our food in a Safeway cardboard box and then used the box for a table.  Best of all as a card table we could keep score right on the box itself.  I think from now on at established teepee camps there will always be the cardboard box 'table'.

Polly and Josie had never camped with a teepee and woodstove and I think they were impressed that we could simply cook dinner right on the woodstove.  The woodstove simply takes the place of a campfire.
