Best of 2022 - Landscapes

New Years was a while ago, and most people are done with wrapping up 2022, but not me.  I'm only just now finally ready to post my best pictures of 2022.  It seems with every subsequent year that it has gotten harder and harder to edit my photos down to just a few.  Back in 2016 I edited them down to just the 12 best.  Then in 2017 it was 20 . ... The last couple years I have had like 600 'best' and then 50 or so absolute best.  This year I went through my iPhoto files and picked out about 1200 candidates and then edited them down to 799 best photos.  So more than last year, and I think I actually took better photos last year.  Anyway, out of those 799 I picked out 70 absolute best ones.  And like last year I broke them down into categories.  This year the categories are: landscapes, snow and skiing, people, plants and stills, animals and misc.

This year one thing I noticed about the absolute best pictures in general is that they were dominated by pictures I took with my full frame Leica Q2 camera.  This is despite the fact that I used that camera less than the others.  I also noticed that a lot of the absolute best were taken with the 14mm prime lens on my Fujifilm camera.  I barely used this lens!  So maybe I should use it more in the coming year - that lens and also my fixed lens Leica Q2.

Anyway, this post is all about the landscapes.  This year I noticed I took a lot of the same landscapes I have picked for 'absolute best' in the past.  The same old views of Pyramid from behind the ski chalet, the one of Sharatin from Pyramid... .. And they still are very good images.  I just chose not to pick them for absolute best this year.  But never fear a healthy number of them made it into the final 799 'best of 2022' folder.
