Blue Tank

View into Blue Tank from a trail I had not climbed up in 45 years!

This year in Arizona we did some new hikes.  Blue Tank is a pretty big canyon close to where we were staying and we hiked through it twice.  I do not think I have been to the bottom of Blue Tank in 30 years.

On one of the hikes we hiked the entire length of the canyon and climbed out on a relatively moderately sloped trail.  The second time we climbed up a trail mid canyon where the cliffs are high that I remember using as a kid back in the late 1970's.  Back then there was still a washed out horse trail at the locality that my grandfather had told me horse riders no longer used.  Today there is barely anything left of the trail, but we found it and climbed out.  I am positive that I would not put a horse on that trail!  But it actually is a  pretty trail if you are on foot.
