Skeleton Ridge

While in Arizona we also did the hike we do every year - the ridge.  Only this year we learned from a local hiker that the ridge is colloquially known as 'Skeleton Ridge'.  I gather that back in the day hikers found a skeleton in a cave on the ridge.  YIKES!  Clearly they did not let it 'Rest In Peace' - like they should have - because today there are no skeletons in any of the caves.  It might also be an apocryphal story.

In any case, the ridge is a cool place to hike.  There are no trails and a hike there entails a lot of exploring and scrambling up and down cliffs.  And there are a lot of caves.  Even caves that have been modified with rock walls.  There are also archaeological sites and even petroglyphs. It's a fun place to explore.
