Quick Trip to Lipsett Point

This past weekend Stuey and I went for a quick deer hunting trip to Lipsett Point.  Stuey's friend Lars and Lars' mom Julie came with us too.  It was originally supposed to be Lars' dad Ray on the trip but he hurt his knee and could not go.  So Julie came instead.

And it was a quick trip - dense fog delayed our departure until Saturday afternoon and we came back on Monday.  But we certainly packed in a lot of fun while we were out there.  We had 2 nights of teepee time, gathered mushrooms, and did an alpine deer hunt.

We did not get a deer, but that did not matter so much.  The kids got to practice dry firing the rifles and carrying packs.  And we did see a big buck in the middle of a big bowl (so big I thought it was an elk at first), and got to stalk it.  But the big boy faded away into the trees. After the deer disappeared we took a nap on the alpine heather in the sunshine.  It was glorious, but the big buck never re appeared.

On the long hike back to camp I listened to Stuey and Lars talking about how they would do this again.  Success!

Time to go home - it was hard to leave with the weather so glorious
