Early March on the Mountain

It's been warm lately.  On the mountain the ski conditions feel more like mid April than early March.  And the bad news is that we have an early February snow pack.  There is not a lot of snow.  Still every night it has been freezing, and so, just like what's normal in April, the goal is to wait until afternoon for the sun to warm up the corn snow.  Sun warmed corn snow is good skiing, but it is scary when there is not much snow, and we are skiing it in March.  We should still be skiing powder.

And it is supposed to rain all week.

But yesterday was beautiful.  Nora and I joined Brent and Vonn for a late afternoon ski.  It was pretty windy but the sun came out and the skiing was very good.  And at least we can still ski to the road.  Some years we never get to ski to the road.
