It's raining hard today and a little windy, but yesterday, when I took these pictures, it was just foggy. After work in the pea soup fog I took the dogs up the front side of Pillar Mountain. As an aside, I wonder where the term 'pea soup' comes from? Is it just because pea soup is not a 'consommé' (clear) style soup? I wonder why we don't say 'fish chowder fog'? My favorite soup is Campbell's split pea soup. But I doubt many people other than me and my kids eat much pea soup these days.
Anyway, yesterday on the mountain was the epitome of pea soup fog. And I very much enjoyed my walk in the fog.
I tried to get pictures of the wild flowers in the fog. I also took a bunch of pictures of the fleabane (asters) that are just starting to bloom. I took a bunch and posted a bunch because I could not decide which picture was my favorite.
I'm enjoying the cool temperatures and fog because soon I will be off to Maine and I am worried about the heat in the lower 48.
