It is such a beautiful canyon. Towering walls and HUGE cottonwoods growing on the banks of the creak. The Upper Buskin canyon is much smaller and lacks the tall cottonwoods. The new snow from Friday's snow squalls made it a little hard to skate ski in places and it was a bit of a slog going upriver. But then it was a fast glide going on the slight downhill all the way back down the river.
It was a windy day and outside the canyon the wind was kicking up the snow in great big billowing clouds (see bottom picture), and there were plumes of blowing snow off the tops of all the mountains. But in the canyon it was mostly calm. In a few places there was wind, but nothing like the wind outside the canyon.
