Sunset

Friday evening I caught 2 sunsets.  I checked on the ice and did a little ice skating with Nora at Abercrombie while the sun started setting, and then drove downtown and caught the post sunset glow over the harbor from the Hoser Bridge.  Nora astutely remarked that Kodiak sunsets take a long time while in Costa Rica 'the sun sets really quickly'.  And she is right.  Here in the north our sunsets take a couple of hours because the sun glides along the horizon as it sets.  While in Costa Rica, near the equator, the sun sets in a vertical fashion, and the show is generally over in a 1/2 hour or less.  Patrick
