Pillar Snow

This Fall with my new mountain bike I've been riding my bike up to the top of Pillar Mountain a lot.  I ride up on the road and then I take one of the mountain bike trails back down.  So a couple of days ago I was pleasantly surprised to see that there is enough snow up there to skate ski.  In years past I never went up there in winter and consequently have never thought of it as a 'ski destination'.

So yesterday I biked up with my ski gear on my back and went skate skiing.  I will admit the conditions ended up being a little rockier than I'd have liked, but with the rain/snow in the forecast there ought to be pretty good skiing up there soon.  And best of all they now close the main road to motorized traffic in winter - this means the road up there will be a ski highway!
