The North Bowl
This past weekend I introduced the kids to the North Bowl. It does have one steep face - the wall (that's the wall in the picture directly below), but if you want you can avoid the wall and not have to ski anything really steep. It is actually easier terrane than the South Bowl. But the kids have heard me talk about 'The North Bowl' and Nora actually did it on a powder day much earlier in the year. So the North Bowl has always had a sort of mythic attraction. And this last weekend we skied it 3 days in a row.
The first day Stuey was a little intimidated - it does look steep when you look down into it - but he soon realized it wasn't so steep afterall. About halfway down he started to carve his turns and he really ripped it. This is a huge step forward in his skiing trajectory.
The North Bowl also has multiple runs at the bottom. The first day we dropped over into the 'second steep' and went a long ways down to the valley floor. The next 2 days we skiied in a deep ravine we call the 'Halfpipe' - more on that one to come!
