Buskin Crust

Yesterday morning Stuey and I went skate skiing by Buskin Lake.  There is still 2-3 feet of snow and all the brush is buried - so you can go anywhere.  The skis let you float on top and it is like ice skating on land.  You can ski at high speed through the trees and across the fields.

We went around mid day because I wanted the crust to have softened up a bit.  But we did not go in the late afternoon because we did not want the crust too soft either.  Too soft and you break through the crust and sink.  Too icy and you just rattle around on top.  At mid day we hit it perfectly.

After skating around for a bit we played a game of hide and seek.  The person who was it would count backwards from 60 and then go looking.  The trick was to follow the tracks, but since we had been skiing and leaving tracks all around this was often difficult.  Patrick
